Superior wrestlers compete at Fillmore Central holiday meet Last Wednesday, the Superior High School Wildcat wrestlers went to Fillmore Central for the second annual Panther Holiday Wrestling Invite. Six- teen teams competed: Doniphan- Trumbull, East Butler. Freeman, Fillmore Central, Gothenburg, Luth- eran High Northeast, Hastings St. Cecilia, Meridian. Palmer. Palmyra, Ravenna, Red Cloud-BlueHill, South- em Valley, Superior, Wilber-Clatonia. and Yutan. Superior placed twelfth overall, and four of nine grapplers placed in the top seven. Kenny Meyer placed seventh in the 125 weight class after pins from Ryan Zurcher of WilberClatonia in 4:40. Mike Krueger of Doniphan-Trumbull in 3:27, and Brandon Trueblood of Southern Valley in 5:42. Meyer pinned his final opponent Jordan Viotto of Lutheran High Northeast in 0.23. Sophomore Nic Baker wrestled his first matches at Fillmore Central in the ":125"wetgff bracket.. Baker lost hi s 'first match' to Kordell Glause of Palmer in 0.51. Tyler Olson of Palmyra pinned Baker in 1:47. Bakerwas also pinned in his final matches by Brandon Kusek of Ravenna in 1:50 and Jordan Viotto of Lutheran High Northeast in 1:21. Freshman Daniel Allgood repre- sented Superior in the 130 weight bracket. Allgood's first opponent. Nicholas Williams of Lutheran High Northeast pinned Daniel in 0.30. Allgood's was pinned by Justin Pomajzl of Wilber-Clatonia in 0.25 during the second match. Allgood fell 12-2,1 in his third match against oppo- nent Dalton James of Red Cloud-Blue Hill. Daniel fell to his final opponents Ross Hockensmith of Doniphan- Trumbull in 0.59 and Josh Blair of Yutan in 3:40. In the 145 weight bracket, Junior Raile Blackburn grappled for Supe- rior. Blackburn lost his first match to Aaron Seyfert of Wilber-Clatonia 2-1. In his second match, Raile pinned Jor- dan Wright of East Butler in 1:31. Riley Noel of Meridian pinned Blackburn in 2:20. In a hard-fought match leading to sudden death fol-" lowed by two additional 0:30 periods, Blackburn lost the 4-4 match .because opponent Trey Sharman of' Palmer scored first. Blackburn pinned Merritt Holmes of Red Cloud-Blue Hill in 0.55 in his final match. Andrew Brittenham (160) fell to his first opponent, Zach Dammann of Palmer, in 3:16. Brittenham los't'his next match to Austin Wilson of Hastings St. Cecilia in 3:44. Andrew pinned HectorRodriguez of Red Cloud- Blue Hill in 3:20. Brittenham pinned his fourth opponent Colt Livingston of Southern Valley in 1:51. Brittenham pinned Will. Arnoi4.. of Doniphan- Trumbuli in 1:52 to complete the meet. Also wrestling in the 160 weight bracket. Hunter Richardson fell to his first three opponents: Dfllion Bates of Wilber-Clatonia in 3:05. Daton Goodwin of Gothenburg 0-.16, andWill Arnold of Domphan-Trumbull in 3:17. Richardson won his first match of the season against Josh Eaton and East Butler in 2:31. Hunter lost his final match to Hector R0driguez of Red Cloud-Blue Hill in 2:41. Undefe0ted in the 171 weight bracket this season, Ross Porterbrought home another first place finish from Superior's Sarah Wood appears to draw a foul on this shot against Grand Island Central Catholic in the holiday tournament. Wood led her team with 26 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to get the win. Fillmore Central. Porter beat Alex Richardson of Freeman by points 13- 0. Porter then pinned Caleb Geiger of Gothenburg in 2:41. Porter won his quarter finals and finals matches against Niek;,ILee of DohiphanTrumbull 6-1 and Justin Kaperski Of Ravenna 7-4. Levi Smith represented Supenor in the 189 weight bracket with a third place finish. Smith pinned Rhett Page of Freeman in 0:17, Ryan Harrahill of Palmer in 0:16. and Jackson Suminski for Hastings St. Ceciliain 3:23. Smith fell to Brant Stewart of Meridian in 4:45. Smith was pinned in his final match by Eathan of Ravenna in 5:11. Luke Renz (215) fell to Derek Vanlaningham of Wilber-CI atonia in 1:01. Renz pmned Cole Curtis of Fillmore Central in 1:59. Adam is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa (Kan.) High School who did his undergraduate degree and veterinary school all at Kansas State University. All is a 1998 graduate of Superior High school.who did her undergraduate work at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her veterinary degree at K-State.
