Thursday, February 13, 2014 THE SUPERIOR EXPRESS 5A Wrestlers to participate at conference tournament The Superior High School wres- fling team traveled to David City Fri- day to take part in the Southern Ne- braska Conference tournament. The team finished in tenth place in the ten team field with 33 points. Damion Holt earned a second place finish in the 152 pound weight class. Daniel Allgood secured a fourth place finish in the 160 pound weight bracket. Other Superior grapplers earning. points for the team were Harlen Reed in the 170 pound weight class and Darik Holt in the 220 pound weight class. Keaton Meyer wrestled at the 113 pound weight level. Tage Rothchild took part at the 120 pound weight level. Francisco Garcia wrestled at the 132 pound weight mark. Lane Morris participated at the 145 pound weight division while Sloan Willett competed in the 182 pound weight class. The district tournament will be held at Tri-County High School in DeWitt, Friday and Saturday. Carlie Mazour (12), a Lawrence- Nelson Lady Raider, has a clear shot during last Monday&apos;s game action against the Red Cloud Warriors in Twin Valley Conference tournament play. The Lady Raiders lost 35-28 and were eliminated from tournament play. Raiders fall in Twin Valley Conference tournament play The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders bas- ketball team opened and closed their play in the Twin Valley Conference last Wednesday against the Shelton Bulldogs at Nelson. The Raiders lost their game by a 51-40 score. The Shelton Bulldogs came out with a strong offense and a stifling defense to take a 12-3 lead after one period of play. They held the Raiders offense to two points in the second quarter and led 20-5 at the half. The first half hole the Raiders found themselves in was their undoing. They got their offense back on track over the final two peri- ods, outscoring the Bulldogs 35-31 but it was way too late and the Raiders tournament play came to an end. ' , Stephen Kimminau led the balanCed Raider scoring effort with nine points and he brought down three rebounds. Cole Epley dropped in seven points and scooped up five rebounds. Josh Himmelberg scored six points and car- ried away three rebounds. Timmy Herbek put up five points and gathered in four rebounds. Daniel Schroer posted five points and hauled down a rebound. Austin Mazour recorded four points and scrambled for six rebounds. Bolton Biltoft and Brennan Miller each tossed in two points and picked up two re- bounds. The Raiders will host the Superior Wildcats Friday and will play their final regular season contest against the, Deshler Dragons, Feb.21, at Deshler. Leah Meyer (22) has a face full of hand as she attempts to shoot over a Fillmore Central High School Lady Panther defender during Friday's semi-final game of Southern Nebraska Conference play. The Superior High School Lady Cats got by Fillmore Central 49-47 to advance to the championship game against Sandy Creek. The Lady Cats downed the Lady Cougars 58-48 to take home.the conference title.
