Louise Henderson is presented the 'Superior Person' award by
Brian Miller, Ambassadors president.
Louise Henderson is the epitome of what a 'Superior Per-
son' should be. Louise is one of those unique people who
thinks of others before herself. She loves this community with
all of her heart and it shows.

helped make it the success It is.
She gets up early every Friday morning to attend the Red
Caps Breakhst and report in her officer's capacity. She sup-
ports the school by attending almost every game played,
whether in town or away. She also attends all Ambassador
meetings in the hopes of offering her hand to the promotion
of lifts community.
If there was ever a cheerleader for this community, it would
be Louise Henderson. Her tireless dedication to her family,
her .job and this community are above reproach.

FFA Member of the Month
The Superior FFA Chapter has selected Richard Rogers
as their April member of the month. He is the son of Keith
and Susan Rogers of Superior. Richard is a sophomore
and serves the chapter as a member of the Scholarship
Committee.
This past month Richard competed in the District 8
Sheep Management Contest in Hastings and received
second place. He participated in the Chapter's Republican
River Bank Erosion l:h-oject on the Lee Hanson Farm.
Rogers earned his Chapter Degree in Ceremonies, April 9
at Superior High School. Richard competed in three
Nebraska State Agriculture Education Contests in Lin-
coln, April 3-5. He earned a purple in Natural Resources
received a blue. In the Jr. Livestock Judging
Contest, Richard also earned a purple and lead his team to a blue ribbon, in the
Livestock Management Competition, he again earned a purple ribbon and lead his team
to a purple ribbon finish.
Richard is an Ag Education Honor Roll Student. At the area Livestock Judging
Contest hosted by the Fillmore County Extension Service in Geneva, Rogers brought
home the first place trophy and purple rosette. He is currently working on the State
Envirothon Contest to be held in Halsey, Nob.
Rogers' supervised agricultural experience program consists of market and breeding
sheep and market steers+ He also works at Sund Farms. He is currently enrolled in the
Superior High School Ag Education lI Class. Richard plans to continue his education
after graduation at a four year College or University and study Veterinary Science.

FFA chapter holds
degree ceremony
Superior FFA President Chris Head-
rick presided over the 2002 FFA chap-
ter degree ceremonies last Tuesday.
The chapter degree is the second de-
gree of membership an agricultural
education student can obtain. It is the
highest degree the local chapter can
bestow. The ceremony was held in the
Superior High School cafeteria and
parents were invited to attend.
To earn the chapter degree a mem-
ber must have their greenhand degree,
have a supervised agricultural experi-
ence program in place, have worked on
the local program of activities, have
record books to document financial
and leadership data, submit a written
application and demonstrate parlia-
mentary procedure and public speak-
ing skills.

Sixteen Junior High students from
Superior competed in the State Agri-
culture Education Quiz Bowl on April
5. The students competed in four 4-
person teams. The competition was
held at Pershing Auditorium in Lin-
coln, during the Nebraska State FFA
Convention. The event was hosted by
former state FFA officers. Sponsors
were Annie Zabokrtsky, student
teacher, and Roy Montgomery. More
than 150 teams were entered in two
sessions. A leadership workshop was
conducted for seventh and eighth grad-

ors.
The team ofLes Kile, Brian Eggers,
Sara Rogers and Sam Rempe worked
through elimination rounds to the tro-
phy finals. The team earned fourth
place in the state competition and re-
ceived individual trophies. The team
of Kris Bargen, Torie Robb, Amber
Eiseman and Sam Myers were defeated
in a tie breaker round to make it to the
trophy finals. Also presenting Supe-
rior were seventh graders Ross Mont-
gomery, Kayla Rempe, Marci Rhoads
and Bethany Renz and eighth graders
