/ 4A THE'UPERIOR EXPRESS Thursday, April 23, 2015 Deshler Dragons host Del Wicks Invite The DesMer Dragons hosted the Del Wick sInvitational Track Meet at Superior: s Wildcat Community Track, Thursday; Teams from seven other schools;-Sul)erior, Lawrence-Nelson, RockHil|s, Meridian, Friend Dorchesterand Thayer Central partici- pated. The boys team took second place with 921 points while the girls team was eighth with 36.5 points. Caleb Vonderfecht earned a first place medal in the 400 meter dash with his time of 53 seconds, was third in the long jump, the 200 meter dash and was fourth in the 100 meter dash. Ashton Oakman took fourth in the long jump, triple jump; 1600 meter run and was sixth in the' 400 meter dash. Grant Hanson finished sixth in the high jump. Jared Pohl "n{,ann recorded second place finishes in the discus and shot put. Ryan Brandt took sixth place in the pole vault. Mason Roth finished fifth in the 800meter run. Brett Mundhenke was sixthin the 80-0 meter run. Noah Burger was second place finisher in the 3200 meter run and fifth in the 1600 meter run. The 4 x 400 meter relay team was third while the 4 x 100 meter relay team finished sixth. Brittaney O'Neal finished sixth in the long jump. Tyra Mohrmann was fifth in the high jump. Cassady Mundhelak earned second place points in the15ole Vault and finished third in the 400 meter dash. Lauren Schmidt pulled down third place in the 800 meter'run. SHS does well at Del Wicks meet It was an away track and field meet held at home for the Superior High School Wildcat boys and girls track teams, Thursday. The Del Wicks Invi- tational inEet is sponsored by Deshler High Sqhool but held at Superior's WildcaI Community Track. The Wild- cat girls finished in first place, with 109 points, in the eight team field. Other team s at the meet were Lawrence- Nelson, Rock Hills, Dorchester, Friend, Meridian, Thayer Central and Deshler. Personal best marks were achieved by Strobl and Isom, 100 meter dash, Jurgensmier, long and triple jumps, Roberts, 400 meter dash, Caldwell, 200 meter dash, Freeman, long jump and 200 meter dash, Willett, 100 and 200 meter dashes, Blackstone, high jump, 100 meter dash and 100 meter hurdles, Dressman, 300 meter hurdles and the boys 4 x 100 meter relay team. Carla Hoins, head coach for the team, praised the boys as a majority of the team achieved personal bests at this meet. The team hosted the Superior Invi- tational, Tuesday, at the Wildcat Com- munity Track, with results unavailable at press time. Superior junior high track at L-N meet The Superior Junior High School girls and boys track teams headed to Sandy Creek, last Tuesday, for the Lawrence-Nelson Junior High School Invitational meet. The boys and girls teams each finished in first place. The girls team recorded l l6 points while the boys team amassed 127 points. Kalyun Meyer earned first place points in the discus and added second place points to the team total with a second place finish in the shot put. Megan Miller was second in the 300 meter hurdles and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Sydney Wiilett finished third in the 200 meter dash and was sixth in the 100 meter dash. Emma Schnakenberg took third place points in the discus and 400 meter dash. She was sixth in the shot put. Emily Tietjen recorded fourth place finishes in the pole vault and 1600 meter run. Taylor Bargen was fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus. Dani Freeman finished fifth in the 100 meter dash. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Freeman, Meyer, Hayes and Willett finished in first place. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of H. Miller, Schnakenberg, Malori Grabast and M. Miller took first place honors. The 4 x 400 meter B team of Noelle McMeen, and Healey took fourth place. The hard work by individual team members was evident with the 30 per- sonal best marks set at the meet. The team is competing at the Deshler Invitational being held at Superior's Wildcat Community Track, today (Thursday). Natalie McMeen, Lacey Langer and Payton Frahm finished in fifth place. The boys team was led by Adam Baker with his four first place medals in the high jump, pole vault, 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Jaden Hanson was the top finisher in the discus throw and shot put. He was fifth in the 100 meter dash. Trenton Theis was the first place medalist in the 1600 meter run and he took second place in the 800 meter run. Adin Leibei was in second place in the 1600 meter run. He finished fourth in the high jump and added fifth place points in the 800 meter run. Jesse Trillo was the third place finisher in the shot put. Hunter Healey scored third place points in the 110 and 300 meter hurdle races. He was sixth in the pole vault. Caden Roberts finished fourth in the 1600 meter run. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Isaac Meyer, Roberts, Trillo and Seth Gehle placed fourth. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Hanson, Theis, Leibel SHS golfers finish fourth at Red Cloud The Superior High School Wildcat team visited Red Cloud, Wednesday, for the Bob Bohrer Memorial High School Golf Tournament, held at the Red Cloud Golf Course. The Wildcats had a successful trip, taking fourth place honors in the 13 team field. Other participating schools were Red Cloud, Franklin, Heartland Lutheran, Sandy Creek, Hastings St. Cecilia junior var- sity, Lawrence-Nelson, Blue Hill, Shelton, Doniphan-Trumbull, Exeter- Milligan, Silver Lake and Harvard. The Wildcats posted a team score of 360 for the 18 hole event. The four lowest score of the five team players are used to determine the team score. Jacob Sunday finished in 10th place overall with his round of 89. Eric Schiermeyer also recorded a round of 89 for 13th place. Cale Frahm carded a round of 91 for 14th place while Jacob Whitmore finished his round with a 91 for 15th place Trenten Morris went to the clubhouse with a round of 93. Ben Price led the junior varsity play- ers with a first place finish with a round of 93. Next up for the Wildcats is the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational, at Hastings, today (Thursday).
