Cherokee Frahm-Thayer (30) picks up off a defensive rebound for the Lawrence-Nelson Lady Raiders during game action against the Franklin Flyers. L-N Lady Raiders split weekend games It was back to back games Friday and Saturday for the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders even up for the first quarter, Friday, at Nelson. Each team scored eight points. That was the last time the game was close. L-N poured in 20 points during the second period while the Flyers scored zero. The result was a 28-8 Lady Raider lead at the half. The third quarter was all L-N again as they pumped in 15 points while the anemic Flyer offense managed to score eight points. Leading 43-16 to begin the last period of play, the Lady Raiders dealt ou t playing time to every team mem- ber. When the game ended, the Flyers had the wings clipped 51-26 and the Lady Raiders possessed a 3-0 record. The trip to Davenport, Saturday, for the contest with the Bruning-Dav- enport-Shickley Lady Eagles did not end as well. The first half was evenly played, with the Eagles clinging to a 21-18 lead. The Lady Raiders sput- tered coming out in the third period and found themselves trailing 37-25 after three periods of play. They could not mount a domineering offensive run and fell victim to the Eagles 42=32 for their first defeat of the season. Kelsey Menke, Cherokee Frahm- Thayer and Harlie Himmelberg led the many Lady Raider scorers with nine points against Franklin. Rachel Kathman came away with six points. Alyssa Miller and Molly McCartney dropped in five points apiece, Haler Menke finished the game with four points. Abby Kile and Mattee Kucera each recorded two points. Mackinley Thayer, Carlie Mazour and Maekayla Ward also saw playing time, Frahm-Thayer hit for 12 points and grabbed three rebounds. Kathman slipped through six points and snatched two rebounds. Kelsey Menke put six Miller dropped in two points and posted a rebound. H. Menke collected a re- bound. McCartney saw playing time. The Lady Raiders were in Mankato Tuesday to play the winless Rock Hills Lady Grizzlies at Mankato. Another weekend of back to back games is on the schedule. The Friend Bulldogs visit Nelson, Friday. A trip to Shelton , Saturday for a game with yet another Bulldog team then the team enjoys a Christmas break. IN Raider see mixed results for weekend It was feast and famine over the course of 24 hours for the Lawrence- Nelson Raiders Friday and Saturday. The Raiders entertained the Franklin Flyers Friday and were rewarded with a 53-36 win. The roles were reversed Saturday when the Raiders headed to Davenport and were taken to school by the Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles, 67-22. The Flyers offered little to no resis- tance to the Raiders onslaught and were down 29-7 at the half. They made a little headway in lowering the deficit in the last two quarters as the Raiders sent their less experienced players onto the court for playing time. The result was a 53-36 win to improve their record to 2-0. The Raiders ran into a buzz saw at D savenport and would like to put the 67-22 debacle behind them as soon as possible. The team went against the Rock Hills Grizzlies and their 1-2 record, Tuesday, at Mankate. Game results were unavailable at press time.
