8A THE SUPERIOR EXPRESS Thursday, December 22, 2011 LWML meets for potluck luncheon Lutheran Women's Missionary League met at 12:30 p.m., last Wednes- day, at Centennial Church for a pot- luck luncheon• Roll call was answered by nine members and two guests• Cathy Ahrens read"It was the Night Before Jesus Came" and "Christmas List" before the Mites for Mission of- fering. Secret sister gifts were passed out and new names drawn for next year. The program committee presented "Pilgrimage of Adoration" with Avis Bostelman, Bettie Bruns and Esther Wilton as readers and the group sing- ing numerous Christmas hymns. Grab bag gifts were distributed. The birth- day song Was sung to Bettie Bruns. The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m., Jan. 11. Republic By Mrs. Alvin Petersen Meadowlark Hospice celebrated the Tree of Light ceremony at 2 p.m., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in BeUeville. The welcome was given by Phyllis Hofts, Music by AI Urich with other Belleville and Republic volunteers assisting. Bene- diction was by Pastor Roger Walls. Refreshments were serve by the Belleville and Republic volunteers. 8-12 Bridge Club was hosted, last Tuesday, by Virginia Petersen. Jodi File was an extra guest• Next meeting will be Jan. 3 with Judy Erkenbrack. Evelyn Hurley has been celebrat- ing her birthday• She and Jim and Jean Farlee, Mary Agnes Johnson and Ralph and Mary Jane Hallack had a cafe dinner Thursday. Last Sunday, Jim and Evelyn joined Eleanor Rizek, Hebron, and Garold and Illene Blazek for dinner to celebrate the birthdays of both Evelyn and Illene. Jeff and Marge Eitzmann were Thursday guests of Glenna Brown. Pastor Robert and Jean Walls hosted a Christmas open House at the parson- age, last Saturday afternoon• Pastor Roger Walls was honored after church services Sunday with an ice cream birthday cake and coffee in the fellowship hall hosted by Bill and Connie Smith. Ward and Ilene Aurand joined their camping club in Superior, last week- end. Jean Farlee hosted an early Hallgren Christmas, Sunday. Guests were Marilyn Nichols, Sean and Jeremiah Milleson. Marc.
